The builders usually work Monday through Thursday. For us it was a good day, we got to sleep in. John wired the laundry room and the bathroom. I wish I could say I was productive but I wasn't. All I accomplished was taking pictures for tonight's post.
Yesterday we drove west 70 miles round trip to Home Depot to return the damaged cabinet and water heater, picked up the toilets and returned home. Then in the afternoon we drove south 70 miles to Lowe's to pick up all the bathroom fixtures, which took an hour and 40 minutes for them to find and process our online order.
When we left Huey and Bill were discovering how rotted the bathroom floor was because the old shower walls and concrete floor were in such bad repair that every time someone had taken a shower here it was leaking through the floor down to the support beams. It was no surprise to me to see the rot. They left us a piece of the 12" by 12" beam they had cut out and then replaced with more 2" by 10" and more bricks under the house. Give me a northern basement any day. We just can't get used to the building techniques down south.
