"I feel safe now"

Yesterday I mentioned the hot tubes and how I found them while searching for some way to bring the heat down from the 12 foot ceilings. We put one in the den and one in the parlor. I haven't testing them by checking the temperature on the thermometer yet.

It's seriously disconcerting when your husband says, "I feel safe now." We have been able to rewire almost all the rooms of the house. We went up to take pictures for tonight's blog. The electricity is turned off in the upstairs bedroom so we took up a flashlight. These pictures would mean so much more to someone with electrical knowledge. It's a pile of old and some times bare wires.

This is some of the old nob and tube wiring in the attic. It ran through the attic like a California freeway.

Speaking of attics, there is part of an old alarm system still in the attic. When we got here there was a complete non-working system in the house from a company that closed down about 20 years ago. Below is a picture of one of the two windows in the attic. It was removed and put aside to put the blow horn in the window space. It's rather a unique old window. It has the etched security glass in it like the glass in the dining room and the front door.

And last but not least is the continued project of the kitchen. I've painted the lower cabinets the same color of the front door. I thought of greens and blues but someone was sticking his nose up at that. I thought of yellows but with white walls I just couldn't warm up to yellow. Then there is that gad awful yellow bathroom to haunt me. I will forever remember it when I think of the color "yellow".

I'm still not sure what to do with the upper cabinets.
